Cookie Policy

Applies to https://tree.storylegend.app

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar technologies are, how StoryLegend uses them on the Family Tree Builder, and how you can manage your preferences.

What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. They are widely used to make websites work, improve efficiency, and provide information to site operators. We also use browser localStorage — a similar technology that stores data on your device without an expiry date — for features like saving your trees when you are not signed in.

Cookies We Use

We use three categories of cookies and similar storage technologies:

Managing Your Preferences

You have full control over analytics and marketing cookies:

  • Cookie consent banner — shown on your first visit. Use “Customize” to choose analytics and marketing cookies individually or “Accept All” to enable both.
  • Cookie Settings — accessible from the main menu at any time to update or revoke your preferences without leaving the app.
  • Settings page — the Privacy section under Account settings also links to the cookie manager.
  • Browser settings — you can instruct your browser to block or delete cookies. Note that blocking necessary storage may affect core functionality such as staying signed in.

Rejecting optional cookies does not affect your ability to use the Service. All core features remain fully available.

Third-Party Cookies

When you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics sets cookies on your device via Google Tag Manager. These are governed by Google's Privacy Policy. If you enable marketing cookies, advertising or campaign-measurement providers may also set cookies through Google Tag Manager or similar tools when those integrations are active. Any such providers will be governed by their own privacy policies.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
